Lillian Anderson

Longtime Jamestown resident Marzella Lillian Anderson died Saturday at a Sonora hospital. She was 81.

She was born in Healdsburg, Sonoma County, and moved to Standard in 1945. She was a 59-year Tuolumne County resident. She lived in Jamestown since 1967. She worked for Mother Lode Frosty and Sierra Laundry.

Her family said she loved dogs, cats, gardening and cooking and remodeled her own house.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Darlene Storey and Marlene Miller, both of Jamestown, and Earlene and Leroy Keller of Sonora; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Lynn Louk of Placerville; a sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Ralph Minzlaff of Columbia; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Louk and Elva Brown.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Mountain Shadow Cemetery. The Rev. Lewis Williams is presiding and the pallbearers are Ricky Keller, David A. Davis, Jim Revord, David L. Davis, Jimmy Underwood and Stephen Randi. The honor pallbearers are Clayton Miller and Mark Salzar.

Katherina Tryon

Longtime Douglas Flat resident Leona Katherina Tryon died Friday at a San Andreas hospital. She was 85.

She was born in North Dakota and had lived in Douglas Flat since 1949. She was a homemaker and worked as a cosmetologist for 50 years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Murphys and had been an organist for the church for the past 35 years. She also played the organ at Union Congregational Church in Angels Camp for many years. She was a member of the Calaveras Garden Club and Jumping Frog Seniors.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Bill Elliott of Douglas Flat; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Vossler of Elk Grove and Jane Vossler of Jenny Lind; sisters, Ida Schmierer of Acampo, San Joaquin County, and Melinda McClary of Stockton; a grandson, Raymond Elliott of Douglas Flat; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held.

Augustine Braccia

Anthony Augustine Braccia of Twain Harte died Thursday at a Sonora care home. He was 83.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Twain Harte for 10 years. He worked as a mechanical engineer for 52 years in the Bay Area. He was a retired U.S. Naval Reserve admiral. He served as past president for the Society of Military Engineers, Navy League of the United States and the San Francisco Engineers Club. He did submarine service in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He graduated from Pratt Institute, a college in Brooklyn. He also was a member of the board of directors of Pratt Institute.

Mr. Braccia is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bettye of Twain Harte; sons and daughters-in-law Craig and Adrienne Braccia of Orinda, Contra Costa County, Mark and Michele Braccia of Richland, Wash., and Matthew and Dana Braccia of Scottsdale, Ariz.; daughters and a son-in-law, Sondra Russi of Orinda and Angela and Richard Vandegrift of Twain Harte; a sister, Rita Petitto of Valley Stream, N.Y.; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Derby Ann Bradley; sons Jeffrey and Mitchell Braccia; and a sister, Florence Quaranta.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. today at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sonora.
