Robert Earl Aldrich of Valley Springs died of natural causes Wednesday at a San Andreas hospital. He was 46.
He was a native of Stockton and grew up in Galt. He attended Delta College and California State University, Chico, and majored in forestry. Shortly after college, he went to work for P.D.M. Steel Manufacturing in Stockton and worked there for 25 years.
He and his wife, Lianna, moved to Valley Springs in September 2000.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the countryside, his family said. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Lodi Moose Lodge.
Mr. Aldrich is survived by his wife, Lianna Aldrich of Valley Springs; a stepdaughter, Tanya Roberts of Galt; a stepson, Rick Schaffer of Acampo, San Joaquin County; a brother, Norman Aldrich Jr. of Lodi; sisters, Taresa Nantt of Lodi and Lisa Eherle of Ione; and a granddaughter.
Services were held.

Longtime Murphys resident Eugene Reagan Pierce died Friday at his home. He was 83.
He was born in San Antonio. He had lived in Murphys for 30 years and in Camarillo for 43 years.
He was a sheet-metal worker for the U.S. Government. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Murphys and of the Murphys branch of Sons in Retirement.
Mr. Pierce is survived by his wife, Genevieve Pierce of Murphys; sons, James Pierce of Somis, Ventura County, Michael Pierce of Murphys and Marvin Pierce of Arnold; a daughter, Mona Emerson of Murphys; a sister, Kathryn "Kay" Pierce of Costa Mesa; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A rosary is scheduled at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Angels Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Murphys.

Evans H. Wann

Former Sonora resident Evans H. Wann died Thursday at his La Habra, Orange County, home. He was 95.
He was born in Tuolumne and lived in Tuolumne until he was 18. He worked as a sawyer for 51 years.
He enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing cards, going to Las Vegas and the race track, his family said.
Mr. Wann is survived by a son, Richard Wann of Chester; daughters Judy Marlow of Hoquiam, Wash., and Deanna Spargur of La Habra; a brother, Trenton Wann of Tuolumne; sisters Lola Abbey of Oakdale and Chyloe Hunter of Ashland, Ore.; grandchildren, Kelly Zimmerman, Don and Vickie Spargur, Stacy Richins, Dave and Rick Wann, Suzy Horton and Melissa, Dave and Rick Marlow; and great-grandchildren, Taylor and Ryan Richins, Siara and Vanessa Marlow, Sadie, Kayla, Brian, Cory and Keith Wann and Robert and Naomi Spargur.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. tomorrow at Heuton Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Carters Cemetery in Tuolumne.

Longtime Calaveras County resident James Daniel Anderson died Thursday at a San Andreas hospital. He was 95.
He was born in Milwaukee. He had lived in Murphys for 23 years, Angels Camp for two years and most recently in San Andreas. He was the auditorium manager for El Monte High School in El Monte, Los Angeles County, for 20 years. He was a member of Foothill Community Church in Angels Camp.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Dorothy Anderson of San Andreas; sons Dan Anderson of Florida and Ted Anderson of Mountain Ranch; daughters Pat Turner and Joan Cole, both of Arnold, and Peggy Greenwood of Riverside; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Services were held.
