Jessie C. O'Brien

Jessie C. O'Brien of Sonora died Saturday, Jan. 10, at a Sonora hospital. She was 98.

She was born in Washington and lived in Sonora for eight years. She worked as an inspector for Die Casting Company for 23 years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Poppin of Sonora; a son, George Arnold of Sacramento; a brother, George McMahon of Baring, Wash.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Private family services were held.

Donations can be made to Tuolumne General Hospital, Attn.: Adult Day Healthcare or Long-term Care, 101 Hospital Road, Sonora, CA 95370.

Hilton Ennis

Hilton Ennis, a part time resident of San Andreas, died Wednesday at a Hayward hospital. He was 83.

He was born near Barlow, N.D., and bought a vacation home in San Andreas in 1982.

He worked as an area manager for Western Union while he lived in Modesto, Lodi, Stockton, Fresno and later the Bay area.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-46 and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1968 in Lodi and a past member of the genealogy societies of Calaveras County and the Hayward area for many years.

Mr. Ennis is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ena Ennis of Hayward; a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Carolyn Ennis of Pleasanton; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Terry Henry of Sacramento; a sister, Betty Huennekens of San Andreas; and four grandchildren, Zachary Henry of Hollywood, Nicholas Henry of Sacramento, and Elizabeth and Geoffrey Ennis, both of Pleasanton.

Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon tomorrow at Angels Memorial Chapel. A graveside service be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Altaville Protestant Cemetery in Altaville. A brief reception will follow the service at 8172 Dogtown Road in San Andreas.

Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.


McELMURRY Ellen McElmurry, 98, of Sonora died yesterday at a Sonora care home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

PRUTCH Robert John Prutch, 70, of Jamestown died Friday at a Sonora hospital. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

ROBERTSON Dorothy Robertson, 91, of Sonora died yesterday at a Sonora care home. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

THOMPSON Visitation for Wayne Kerry Thompson, 58, of Jamestown is scheduled for 4-7 p.m. tomorrow at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home. A vigil will be at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Catholic Church in Twain Harte. Mr. Thompson died Thursday at a Sonora hospital. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

WALTRIP Walter Waltrip, 67, of Sonora died Saturday at a Sonora hospital. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
