Isabel Alice

Longtime Calaveras County resident Isabel Alice Borders died Tuesday at a San Andreas hospital. She was 79.

She was born in Old Forge, Pa. She lived in Calaveras County for 27 years, most recently in San Andreas. She was a retired day-care provider and foster parent.

She was a member of both San Andreas and Valley Springs Community Covenant churches.

She is survived by her daughters, Monalee Garcia of Mokelumne Hill, Bernice Cure of Benicia and Selma Diane Johnson of Nevada; grandchildren Manuel Garcia of Mokelumne Hill, Edwin Garcia Jr. of Durango, Colo., Donald Owen of Arnold, David Owen of Texas and Dennis Owen of Don Pedro; and two great-grandchildren.

At her request, no services will be held.

San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Jacqueline 'Jackie' Ruth Parsley

Longtime Sonora resident Jacqueline "Jackie" Ruth Parsley died Wednesday at a Sonora hospital. She was 81.

She was born in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. She had lived in Sonora since 1977. She was a homemaker and active in senior citizens' groups and activities. She enjoyed Senior Merry Maker Bowling League.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharron Brisco of Sonora; grandchildren Jason Brisco of Sonora and Melanie Hamilton, and her husband, George, of Lovelock, Nev.; great-grandchildren Terasa and Whitney Hamilton, both of Lovelock, Nev., and Stephanie and Scott Mittry and Tabitha Brisco, all of Sonora; a sister, Grace Martell of Anaheim; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merrell "Pete" Parsley, in 1971.

No services are scheduled at her request.

Wesley 'Wes' Madison Pearson

March 6, 1936 Dec. 17, 2003

Wesley "Wes" Madison Pearson of Jamestown died Wednesday at a Sonora hospital. He was 67.

He was born in Toledo, Ohio, while traveling with his parents for the N.Y. Yankees. He was the son of Monte Pearson, who pitched for the Yankees from 1936-39.

He lived in Jamestown for 10 years. He had worked for the Tulare County sheriff's department as a polygrapher and started the mobile crime unit. He graduated from Madera High School. He retired from various positions in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Pearson is survived by his wife of 28 years, Dr. Carmen Pearson of Jamestown; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Jeff Alexander of Sonora; sons and daughters-in-law, Bret Pearson of Arkansas, Patrick Joseph and Del Pangelinan of Honolulu, and Pierre James and Loni Pangelinan of Lancaster; grandchildren Aubrey Dawn Grissom of Sonora, Terrance James and Cory Christopher Borja, and JoAnna, Kristine and Nicolas Pangelinan, all of Guam, and Carlie and Kaleo Pangelinan of Lancaster.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida Cleota "Cle" and Monte Pearson, a brother, Larry Pearson, and a sister, Anita Pearson.

Visitation is scheduled for 1-5 p.m. Monday at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home. A graveside service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine. Call 854-2276 for directions.

Buford Lee Quarton

June 16, 1952 Dec. 17, 2003

Longtime Sonora resident Buford Lee Quarton died unexpectedly Wednesday at his home. He was 51.

He was born in Sacramento, and had lived in Sonora since 1963. He graduated from Sonora High School in 1971, and served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a body shop technician for 30 years. He was a member of E. Clampus Vitus and was a motorcycle enthusiast. He was working on an Ultralight aircraft.

Mr. Quarton is survived by his longtime companion, Lynda Lawson of Sonora; a daughter, Monica Marple of Modesto; his mother, Betty Lou Quarton of Galt; a brother, Clay Quarton of Galt; a sister, Gerilou Cagliostro of Washington; two grandchildren; a niece, Jamie Quarton of Nevada; and a nephew, Cody Quarton of Sacramento.

A memorial gathering and potluck is scheduled for noon Sunday at Tuolumne County Sheriff's Posse Clubhouse on Rawhide Road in Jamestown.

Sept. 17, 1950 Dec. 16, 2003

Alfred "Al" L. Renteria died Tuesday at his Sonora home. He was 53.

Mr. Renteria was born in Oakland, and had lived in Sonora for the past 33 years. He was a member of the Stanislaus National Forest's Hot Shots crew, had worked for Tuolumne General Hospital for many years and was a proud member of E. Clampus Vitus, his family said.

He enjoyed music, camping, NASCAR racing and was an avid member of a gym. He also liked neighborhood gatherings with his friends, his family said.

Mr. Renteria is survived by his mother, Rose Smith of Sonora; his daughter and son-in-law, Sonja and Rudy Leon of Visalia; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Barry Emerald and Jo and Pat Narry, all of Sonora; four grandchildren, Rudy, Jessica, Marissa and Ariel Leon, all of Visalia; four nephews, Jason McIntire, Keith Emerald, and Randy and Casey Martin, all of Sonora; two grandnieces, Kellie and Ashley McIntire, both of Sonora; and one grand-nephew, Jason McIntire of Sonora.

He was preceded in death by his step-father, Rick Smith.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. tomorrow at Terzich & Wilson Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements.

FREDIANI Dorothy Frediani, 79, of Sonora died yesterday at a Sonora hospital. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

KILLOUGH Marla Killough, age unavailable, died yesterday at her home in Cold Springs. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

MARCHESE Former Mi-Wuk Village resident Andrea (Taylor) Marchese, 43, of San Jose, died Tuesday at her home in San Jose. Bay Area Cremation and Funeral Service is handling arrangements. A memorial service will be held Monday. Call Wendy Scott at 586-6615 for details.

MATHESON Leonne Matheson, 85, of Jamestown died yesterday at a Sonora Hospital. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
