Former Confidence resident Raeanna Gremminger died Saturday at a Carmichael care home. She was 88.

She was born in Sacramento. She lived in Alameda and moved permanently to Confidence with her husband, Louis, in the late 1970s. She continued to live in Confidence after Louis died.

She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, and the California College of Arts and Crafts in San Francisco. After her marriage, she raised a family and participated in volunteer work for her own children's activities and Alameda Hospital Auxiliary for many years.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Barbara and Peter Saevke of Rancho Murieta, Joan and Robert Wright of Sugar Pine, Linda and Everett Gremminger of Magalia, and Linda and Steven Gremminger of Bethesda, Md.; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Burial is scheduled at Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland. A private remembrance and reunion to honor her love for her family will be held.

Virginia Olive Russell

Virginia Olive Russell of Angels Camp died Wednesday at a Modesto medical center. She was 88.

She was born in Santa Paula. She lived in Foothill Village in Angels Camp for two years and previously in Saratoga.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of West Valley Presbyterian Church in Cupertino.

She is survived by her son, Fred Russell of Angels Camp; a daughter, Sharon Poff of Angels Camp; a brother, Wilbur Beckwith of Santa Paula; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five step grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Columbia Presbyterian Church of the 49ers.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
