Former Sonora resident Lorraine Charlotte McNulty died July 22 at a Monterey hospital. She was 84.
She was a native of Aberdeen, S.D. After living on the Monterey Peninsula off and on for many years, she moved permanently to Carmel 22 years ago from Sonora. In the mid-1950s, she worked for Game and Gossip Magazine, the house publication of Del Monte Properties.
She had a wide-ranging career in journalism and public relations, spanning 40 years. In the mid-1960s, while living in Sonora, she managed the Gunn House Hotel.
Her family said she enriched the lives of her many friends with her great wit, gift of words and incredible kindness.
She is survived by her sisters, Ethel M. Jobe of Eugene, Ore., and Helen L. Perkins of Central Point, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, A.J. and Nora McNulty; a sister, Ruth Weaver, and a brother, James McNulty.
A celebration of life has been held. Her ashes will be scattered at sea.
