Jason Thomas Harrell of Columbia died unexpectedly Monday, June 30, at his home. He was 31.
He was born in San Diego and lived in Sonora for five years before moving to Columbia.
He loved nature, animals and playing his guitar, his family said, and was into physical fitness.
Mr. Harrell is survived by his father, Harry Harrell of San Diego; his mother, Patricia Allopenna of Sonora; stepfather, Richard Allopenna of Sonora; stepmother, Levis Harrell of San Diego; brother, Eric Harrell of Westmoreland, Tenn.; half brothers Kirk Harrell of San Diego and Anthony Allopenna of Sonora; and grandmothers Jean Harrell of Oklahoma and Mio Lawrence of Maryland.
Visitation is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home. A chapel service will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mountain Shadow Cemetery.
After the burial, there will be a gathering at the Allopenna residence.

Former Sonora resident Ray Marble died Wednesday at a Grants Pass, Ore., hospital. He was 62.
He was born in Loma, Colo., and worked as a truck driver for American Bakeries for 20 years.
He married Kathy Nickerson on Sept. 18, 1982, in Grants Pass. He lived primarily in Woodland during his working years, and also lived in Sonora for a short time. He moved to Grants Pass in 1985 after his retirement.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union No. 296.
He enjoyed working on cars with his grandsons. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his longtime friends, his family said.
Mr. Marble is survived by his wife, Kathy Marble of Grants Pass; five daughters, Sharon Dunbar, Joyce Lupo, and Mary Machado, all of Sonora, Tammy Hunt of Stockton, and Lisa Pandolfi of Grants Pass; sister, Donna Brewer of Jamestown; brother, Bill Johnson of Marysville; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held.

GALLOP Sandra Sue Gallop, 53, of Coulterville died suddenly Saturday, June 28, at her residence. A memorial service is scheduled for 4 p.m. tomorrow at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home in Sonora. A reception will follow.
BORG Richard Borg, 54, of Twain Harte died Thursday at a Palo Alto medical center. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
MODRELL Rodney Lee Modrell, 48, of Angels Camp died suddenly Wednesday. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. tomorrow at Angels Memorial Chapel in Angels Camp.
