William 'Bill' Wayne McKnight

Longtime San Andreas resident William "Bill" Wayne McKnight died Monday at a Lodi care center. He was 87.

He was born in Blanchard, Iowa, and lived in San Andreas for 24 years. He was an auto body repairman before his retirement.

Mr. McKnight was a member of San Andreas 49er Lions Club.

Mr. McKnight is survived by his wife, Dorothy McKnight of San Andreas; two children, Peggy Lee Cordeiro of San Andreas and Terrill Diane Dahmer of Lake Tahoe; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Guy Fleeup.

Services were held. Burial will be at People's Cemetery in San Andreas.

Martin G. Roeben Jr.

Longtime Jamestown resident Martin G. Roeben Jr. died Monday at his residence. He was 75.

He was born in Belt, Mont., and lived in Jamestown for 30 years.

He worked as a truck driver for 43 years and worked for American Bridge Co. in San Leandro.

He loved fishing and hunting. He was a hunting guide outside of Yellowstone National Park and was nicknamed "Duck Rock." He served in the Navy during World War II.

Mr. Roeben is survived by his wife, Peggie Roeben of Jamestown; three daughters, Rhonda Baker of Bakersfield, Terry Osborn of Tennessee and Cynthia Wilson of Arkansas; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A private family service is scheduled.

Kryl Sigurd

Former Sonora resident Kryl Sigurd Thorlakson died Saturday at a Santa Maria hospital. He was 82.

Mr. Thorlakson was born in Seattle.

He started playing the trumpet at age 7 and performed alongside his musical siblings and professional musician parents in the Seattle area. He continued to play into his 70s with various bands, including the 41st Division Army Infantry Band, community bands, dance bands and Tuolumne County Dixieland jazz bands.

His love of music was only surpassed by his kindness, devotion to friends and family, and sense of humor, his family said.

Mr. Thorlakson is survived by his wife of more than 57 years, Beryl "BJ" Thorlakson; daughters, Marsha, Linda and Teresa; a sister, Lona; and grandchildren, Kryl, Shannon, Dan, Shawna, Ben, Sami, Ryan, Kristen and Amanda.

Services were held.

Ruby M. Pederson of Jamestown died Monday at a Sonora care home. She was 83.

She was born in Moriarty, N.M., and had lived in Jamestown for a year. She was a longtime resident of Mountain View.

She worked as a clerk for San Mateo Drugstore in San Mateo for 40 years. She moved to California when she was a teenager.

She loved California, her family said. She loved ice cream and sweets, and enjoyed current events, her family added, and always put others before herself.

She is survived by two brothers, Larry James and William "Bud" James, both of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Nita Brewer of Albuquerque and Norma Miller of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Joanne Nagler of Los Angeles, Denise Polk of Fremont, Tom Cornely of Sunnyvale and Suzanne Bonnain of Boulder, Colo.; numerous nieces, nephews and friends; and her close friends, Paula and David Guldner of Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pierre "Pete" Pederson, in 1991, and by a sister, Mamie Harger of Grand Junction, Colo.

No services are scheduled.
