Robert Tichenor

Dec. 11, 1934 May 25, 2003

Robert Tichenor, 68, a former Sonora resident, died Sunday at his home in San Luis Obispo.

Mr. Tichenor was born in New Castle, Ind. He moved to Ohio in the early 1950s, where he met and married Billie Jean Meadows. He moved to California 40 years ago with his wife and daughters, and had lived on the central coast for the past 20 years on his 40-acre avocado ranch. He also had owned businesses and a vacation home in Sonora since 1977.

He loved the Lord with all his heart, soul, mind and strength, his family said, and his life as a husband, father, son, brother, friend and businessman exemplified this. He was a member of the New Life Community Church of the Nazarene in Pismo Beach for 20 years.

Most of his career was in the banking and real estate investment businesses. His family added that his greatest joy was his "retirement" life as an avocado farmer, traveling with his wife, Billie, to rodeos and stock-car races and spending time with his family.

Mr. Tichenor is survived by his wife, Billie Tichenor of San Luis Obispo; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and John Ramsgard of San Luis Obispo and Donna and Bill Spears of Lodi; grandchildren Christian and Elizabeth Ramsgard of San Luis Obispo, Blake Stevens of Folsom, and TeAnne, Jennah, and Sarah Sparaco of Lodi; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Duane and Rita Tichenor of Valemount, B.C., and Don and Deanna Tichenor of New Castle, Ind.

Memorial donations may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, P.O. Box 1270, Charlotte, N.C. 28201, or call toll free (877) 247-2426.
