Dorothy 'Bobbie'

Groveland resident Dorothy "Bobbie" Willhite died April 17 at a care center in Auburn. She was 76.

Mrs. Willhite was born to Leo and Ida (Bergren) Tagstrom in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from Central High School and worked as an operator for Norwestern Bell Telephone until she moved to California and married her first husband, Arnold Murdo.

After divorcing, she moved to Denver, where she met Ross Willhite. They were married in Hawaii.

They made their permanent home in Groveland, where they moved in the late 1970s.

Both were avid golfers and enjoyed playing at Pine Mountain Lake Country Club.

They also enjoyed driving over Tioga and Sonora passes in their Jeep, watching animals, looking at wild flowers, picnicking and taking their dog, Pal, on long walks.

Mrs. Willhite's hobbies included working with ceramics, macrame, square dancing and playing Bunco with her many friends.

Mrs. Willhite is survived by daughters Cheryl Murdo of Stockton, Karen Katsuleres of Auburn and Nora Stream of Citrus Heights; 10 grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law, Bertel and Carlene Tagstrom of Sioux City; two stepdaughters and their children, Linda Willhite of Groveland and Trish Clarke of Florida; and two stepsons, Ross and Kent Willhite, both of Stockton.

Her family said she will be sorely missed.

Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Lassila Funeral Chapels in Auburn.

Jose 'Marty'

Santiago Martinez

Feb. 26, 1931 April 29, 2003

Groveland resident Jose "Marty" Santiago Martinez died Tuesday at his home of natural causes. He was 72.

Mr. Martinez lived in Groveland for 16 years.

He was a Korean War Marine veteran and an iron worker for 26 years.

He loved fishing and golfing and was a member at Pine Mountain Lake Men's Golf Club.

Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife of 22 years, Darlene Martinez; a daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Theo Pappas of Groveland; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Aldo and Barbara Padreddii and Mark and Susan Padreddii of San Bruno; seven grandchildren, Matthew and Jordan Thomas of Groveland, Gregory, Ryan and Brandon Padreddii of San Bruno, and Nicole and Samantha Padreddii of Florida; and three brothers, Lloyd Martinez of Arizona and Johnny Martinez and Larry Martinez of Colorado.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

A service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Groveland Evangelical Free Church.

Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Donations in Mr. Martinez's name can be made to a favorite charity.

Melvin L. Dolling

Tuolumne native Melvin L. Dolling died at his home in San Mateo after a long illness. He was 60.

A 1960 graduate of Summerville High School, and had lived in San Mateo for 22 years. He was a longtime employee of Singapore Airlines.

Mr. Dolling was a veteran, having being stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army.

Mr. Dolling enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Talia Dolling of San Mateo; son Christopher Dolling of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter Britta Sechrist of Grass Valley; two stepsons; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his mother, Mrs. Bernice Dolling of Tuolumne.

He was preceded in death by his father, Merle Dolling, and a brother, Eugene Dolling.

A service for Mr. Dolling will be at 1 p.m. today in Daly City. Duggan's Serra Mortuary Services is handling arrangements.


KEELEY A memorial service for former Jamestown resident Sara Keeley, who died April 16 in Round Top, Texas, will be from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at 985 Camphor Ave., Manteca.
