Aimee Louise (Grognet) Eaton

Sept. 9, 1975 April 10, 2003

Aimee Louise (Grognet) Eaton, a native of Sonora and lifelong resident of Tuolumne County, died Thursday after she was struck by a car as she walked along Stockton Road in Sonora with her friend. She was 27.

A mother, wife and an insurance agent, she graduated from Summerville Elementary and was a 1993 graduate of Summerville High School.

She had worked for Sonora Insurance Agency for the past nine years. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and especially spending time with her family and baby.

Mrs. Eaton is survived by her husband, Brian Eaton of Sonora; a daughter, Halee Anne Eaton, 1, of Sonora; parents, Ken and Beth Grognet of Tuolumne; a brother and a sister-in-law, Ken and Kim Grognet of Tuolumne; a sister, Annie Grognet of Sonora; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at noon Wednesday at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at Mountain Shadow Cemetery, Sonora.

Donations may be made in Halee Eaton's name to a trust account at Central California Bank, 229 S. Washington St., Sonora 95370.

Robert 'Bob' Kolp

June 3, 1916 April 10, 2003

Robert "Bob" Kolp, 86, of Columbia, died Thursday of complications from a blood clot that stopped his heart while driving on Stockton Road in Sonora.

Mr. Kolp was born in Decatur, Ill., and had lived in Jamestown and Columbia for a total of 32 years. He was a salesman for S&W in San Jose for 32 years. He moved to Tuolumne County after he retired from S&W.

He was a member of Sonora Elks Lodge 1587, Sons in Retirement, Quality Travelers Club, a salesmen's fraternity, for more than 30 years, and St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer and football fan, and especially liked the San Francisco 49ers. He also enjoyed playing poker, belonged to a poker club, and enjoyed the companionship of his friends.

Mr. Kolp is survived by his wife of 56 years, Loretta Kolp of Columbia; a son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Mary Kolp of Seattle; and two grandchildren, Sprague Kolp, who attends University of Nevada, Reno, and Elise Kolp, who attends California State University, Fresno.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. tomorrow at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Sonora. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Steve M. Duncan

Dec. 17, 1951 April 9, 2003

Steve M. Duncan, 51, of Murphys died Wednesday at his home after a battle with cancer.

Mr. Duncan was born in Fort Scott, Kan., and had lived in Murphys for the past 30 years.

He was an equipment operator for the logging industry and had worked for S.C. Linebaugh in White Pines most of his career.

He was an avid builder and drove destruction derby cars at events in Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne counties.

Mr. Duncan is survived by his wife of 30 years, Joan L. Duncan of Murphys; three sons, Louis Geto of Glendale, Ariz.; Robert Geto of Blue Lake Springs; Steven James Duncan of Redding; a daughter, Tonya Conley of Avery; three brothers, John Duncan of Aberdeen, Wash., Mike Duncan of Lodi and Ivan Lee Duncan of Oklahoma; Nettie Abraham of Angels Camp; a stepmother, Jean Duncan of Kansas; and 10 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Angels Memorial Chapel. Burial will be private.

Donations may be made to Sonora Cancer Center, 1 S. Forest Road, Sonora 95370.

Inez 'Tonia' Veloie Thorson

Nov. 20, 1910 April 11, 2003

Tonia Thorson, 92, of Jamestown died Friday at a Sonora hospital.

Mrs. Thorson was one of the first white persons born in Timberlake, S.D., a former Indian reservation. She moved to Orland, Glenn County, when she was a young child and had lived in many other places in California, including Long Beach, San Bernardino, San Francisco, Oakland, Clear Lake and Groveland, before moving to Paradise, where she lived from 1969 to 1978.

After her husband, Arol Thorson, died, she lived in her motor home at many campsites, including some near Death Valley and at Niland, near the Salton Sea, before she moved to Jamestown, where she had lived for the past eight years.

She was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church, American Association of Retired Persons, Loners on Wheels USA and Escapees Club USA.

Ms. Thorson is survived by a niece, Laurie Neff of Yuba City; nephews, Glenn Lane and Donald Bruce Lane, both of Oakland; and three great-nieces and six great-nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Edith Lane.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Paradise Cemetery, where she will be buried beside her husband. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

VANDERMARK Hendrik Vandermark, 84, of Tuolumne died early this morning at a Sonora hospital. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

VIOTTI Marie Viotti, 89, of Sonora died Friday at her home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

GARDELLA Dave Gardella, 59, of Sonora died yesterday at his home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

MUZZI Orlando Muzzi, 92, of Sonora died Saturday at a Sonora hospital. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
