Marjorie (Ayers) Marcure

Marjorie (Ayers) Marcure, 90, of Jamestown died Monday at a Sonora hospital.

Mrs. Marcure was born in Cameron, Mont., and had lived in Sonora for 15 years before moving to Jamestown, where she lived for the past year.

She was one of seven children and grew up farming in Lolo, Mont., and helping her father, who worked for the U.S. Forest Service. She also worked in post offices in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana.

She lived in Missoula, Mont., for many years, where she raised three children, and operated a cosmetic studio for 25 years.

Mrs. Marcure is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline Schmitz of Eureka; a son, Allen Hendrickson of Phoenix; a sister, Ruth Gustafson of Hamilton, Mont.; a brother, Oscar Ayers of Sonora; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Missoula. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Adeline Weber

Adeline Weber, 94, of Sonora died Friday at a Sonora care home.

Mrs. Weber was born in Stockton and had lived in Sonora for the past seven years.

She worked as a waitress for 45 years for various employers, including the Duchess House at Fairyland in Oakland.

She came from a musical family and was a member of "Poppy Girls," an all-female orchestra based in Oakland in the early 1900s. She loved animals, and family members said she had a big heart and was very good to people.

Mrs. Weber is survived by a son, Haslip "Martin" Weber of Sonora; a daughter, Nina May Matulich of San Leandro; a sister, Ieda Baker of San Diego; five grandchildren; Christina Weber of Los Angeles, Michael and Erik Weber of Fresno and John and Leslie Matulich of San Leandro; four great-grandchildren, Spencer and Colton Weber of Fresno, Winter Matulich of San Leandro and Tyler Weber of Fresno.

Services will be private. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

George M. Rose

George M. Rose, 88, of Mokelumne Hill died Feb. 19 at a San Andreas convalescent hospital.

Mr. Rose was born in Yuma, Ariz., and had lived in Mokelumne Hill for the past 23 years.

He earned a master's degree from Stanford University. He worked as a teacher and vice principal in Yreka, before becoming a professor at San Jose State College, now California State University, San Jose. His wife said he was dedicated to his job and often stayed at work late to help students. He loved helping young people, his wife said.

He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, California Teachers Association and loved to hunt and fish.

Mr. Rose is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha Rose, of Mokelumne Hill; a son, George Rose Jr. of Rocklin; a daughter, Marilyn Rose of Sacramento; a brother, Hugh Rose Jr. of Mokelumne Hill; a sister, Ida Pine of Milpitas; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at San Andreas Memorial Chapel.

Robin L. Fields

Robin L. Fields, 51, of Sonora died Sunday in a fire at her home.

Mrs. Fields was born in Los Angeles and had lived in Sonora for 42 years.

She was a waitress at the former Rube's Restaurant in East Sonora many years ago. She loved spending time at her cabin at Eagle Meadow. Family members said she loved her grandchildren and her dachshunds and enjoyed her swimming pool.

Mrs. Fields is survived by her husband of 38 years, Ed Fields of Sonora; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lorie and Chris Tomasovich and Wendi Fields, all of Sonora; a son, Doug Fields of Sonora; a sister, Randy Barker of Modesto; six grandsons, Kyle Tomasovich, Dillon Tomasovich, Justin Fields, Cody Fields, Bo Morey and A.J. Erwin, all of Sonora; and a granddaughter, Deanna Fields of Sonora.

A graveside service was to be held at 1 p.m. today at Mountain Shadow Cemetery, Sonora. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
