Murphys ‘Hotel Hell’ episode will air Sept. 9

By Mike Morris, The Union Democrat

"Hotel Hell" will finally check into Murphys next week.

After filming at the Murphys Hotel more than a year ago, the Fox reality show will put Calaveras County in the national spotlight at 9 p.m. Tuesday when the show airs its season finale centered around the historic inn.

The Murphys Hotel will host a potluck viewing party starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, where guests are asked to bring a favorite appetizer or dessert to share. The hotel's kitchen will be closed so its staff can watch the show as well.

The episode - titled "Welcome to the Frat House" - will air at 9 p.m. on several televisions both inside and outside, including a large-screen projection.

Hundreds of people are expected at the party (slated to last until midnight), while millions more are scheduled to tune in on national television.

"We'll all be watching this for the first time together," said Brian Goss, who owns the hotel with business partners Kevin Clerico and Joel Lacitignola.

While details about the episode are being guarded, the show's website teases that the show's host, notoriously ill-tempered chef Gordon Ramsay, will check in to a "hotel-turned-frat house."
