Union Democrat staff /

A vegetation fire in Sonora on Monday threatened homes as it burned about an hour along Cabezut Road before being contained.

The fire was reported at 6:10 p.m. near Covey Circle. It threatened three structures, including Foothill Pediatrics, and forced the closure of Cabezut Road while crews fought to contain it.

Planes, a helicopter and several engines were sent.

It was contained at 7:15 p.m. at 2 acres with no structures damaged and no injuries. Cabezut Road was reopened.

The fire's cause is under investigation.
