Not too late to file for Angels council

By Mike Morris / The Union Democrat

Angels Camp Vice Mayor Jack Lynch, who has served eight years on the City Council, will not seek re-election this fall.

Meanwhile, Councilman Scott Kelly - who was appointed to the council in April - filed his election paperwork Friday.

Because Lynch is not running, the filing period for the two council seats has been extended until 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The City Council positions require candidates collect 20 signatures of registered voters who live within the city limits, said Calaveras County Elections Coordinator Rebecca Turner.

The Angels Camp City Council is one of several races in the Nov. 4 general election.

The race for the Calaveras County Water District board has attracted three former members of the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors.
