Business ‘lab’ tour planned

Union Democrat staff /

Local leaders and members of the public are expected to be on hand Tuesday for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house of a new venture spearheaded by the Tuolumne County Economic Development Authority.

The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors' regular agenda for Tuesday includes attending the grand opening of the TCEDA Innovation Lab. The open house is scheduled for 12:15 p.m.

The lab is modeled after a new phenomenon known as a "hacker lab" and will offer equipment, office space, computers and other tools for developers, entrepreneurs and other tech-based people. TCEDA is funded through the county and city of Sonora.

Tuesday's event will take place at 101 Hospital Road and is open to the public. The remainder of the Board of Supervisors meeting will be held at the county's administrative office at 2 S. Green St., Sonora. The meeting begins at 9 a.m., with a 1:30 p.m. afternoon session also scheduled.
