Fire resources to New Hogan Reservoir

Austen Thibault, The Union Democrat

Firefighters are battling a vegetation fire on Hogan Dam Road in Valley Springs.

The fire was 10 acres as of 2:40 p.m., having grown from 2 to 3 acres about 40 minutes before, when it was reported, according to Cal Fire.

It was moving toward New Hogan Reservoir and no structures were threatened as of this afternoon.

But the fire still pulled two air tankers, a helicopter, an air attack plane and 14 engines, two bulldozers, two water-tenders, four crews and three lead officers.

Two additional air tankers and one additional helicopter were requested as of Monday afternoon, possibly to be drawn from the 2,600 El Portal Fire in Yosemite.
