Firefighters have a fire south of San Andreas fully contained, officials with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection announced Saturday.

As of Saturday evening, the fire started on George Reed Drive near Pool station Road had not grown past 120 acres at the time of full containment. The fire had burned since Friday afternoon when it was reported at 3:27 p.m.

Before about 246 people from multiple agencies were able to successfully stop its progress, the fire destroyed one structure described as an outbilding and threaten around 30 homes.

The cause is still undetermined, and Cal Fire representatives could not be immediately reached this morning.

It quickly spread toward Highway 49 and several houses in the area. Evacuations were ordered in the early evening, but the evacuation was called off about 7 p.m.

For part of Friday afternoon, the fire closed Highway 49 and other area roads. All roads were reopened by 7 p.m., Cal Fire said.

Resources committed to the fire include 22 fire engines, two bulldozers, five water tenders, nine fire crews, and an air attack plane.
