A Hughson man was killed and his passenger injured in a Jeep rollover accident on Sunday night near Eagle Meadows, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The accident happened about 10:30 p.m. on Forest Road 5N01C, near Eagle Meadows.

The name of the 18-year-old man killed has not been released. His passenger, Dallas P. Casqueira, 17, of Hughson, was transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center for complaint of neck pain.

The two were in a 1994 Jeep Wrangler. They were traveling back to their campsite at Relief Reservoir, according to the report.

For an unknown reason, the Jeep veered to the right, collided with a rock and overturned. Both men were thrown from the Jeep. It rolled over the driver who died on scene, the report said.

Casqueira suffered minor injures and was able to walk to a cabin in the area to find help.
