Two adjacent fires off of J59, west of Don Pedro Reservoir, which have burned about 500 acres are now 75 percent contained.

Firefighters remained on scene this morning at two wildland fires near Bonds Flat Road and J59.

The containment was upped at about 11:15 a.m. to 75 percent. Crews will remain on scene through the day and night, said Cal Fire spokeswoman Lisa Williams.

The forward rate of spread was stopped about 4 p.m. Wednesday, according to Williams. It was then reported 50 percent contained at 500 acres.

Originally, three fires were reported around 11:40 a.m. in the area, and two of them grew together.

Four hand crews, along with 15 engines, two water tenders, two helicopters, two air attack planes and four tankers were dispatched to the scene. Crews remained on scene overnight.

The cause is under investigation.
