Three people injured in highway accidents

Three people were injured in a pair of unrelated highway accidents Monday.

About 1:30 p.m., California Highway Patrol responded to a pickup truck overturned off of Highway 108, east of Kennedy Meadows Road.

Bonnie Hernandez, 66, of Soulsbyville, was driving west on 108 too fast through a right-hand bend and went off the opposite side of the road, according to CHP.

Her 1997 Toyota Tacoma flipped multiple times down an embankment before stopping about 350 feet from the road.

Hernandez was flown to Memorial Hospital in Modesto with major injuries.

Later in the afternoon, about 3 p.m., a motorcycle crashed near Yosemite and injured the driver and passenger.

A driver and passenger from France were on Highway 120, just east of Golden Arrow Road. The driver swerved to avoid something in the roadway, CHP said.

They hit the embankment and were thrown from the bike.

The driver was flown by helicopter to a Modesto area hospital for broken ribs and the passenger complained of arm pain.

No other information was available this morning.
