A San Andreas man was flown to a Modesto hospital after his car collided with a tree early Monday morning.

Lyle Johnson, 51, of San Andreas, was driving his Toyota 4Runner eastbound on Highway 12 about 55 mph, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

Johnson allegedly fell asleep and his truck veered off the side of the road and collided with a tree.

CHP officers responded to the accident about 1:45 a.m.

Johnson suffered major injuries from the accident, CHP said.
