Calaveras home loan programs reviewed

PUBLIC MEETING: Calaveras County Board of Supervisors, 9 a.m. Tuesday, Board Chambers, 891 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas.

The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors will vote Tuesday on whether to create a committee to review existing state housing-assistance and repair loans.

The county now has about 80 Community Development Block Grant and HOME loans to manage.

"For portfolio management, a committee is needed to approve routine actions like subordinations, and to determine the course of action for loans that may be in default because of non-payment, failure to pay a senior lien obligation or failure to meet loan conditions such as residing in the property," states an agenda submittal from county staff.

At Tuesday's meeting, the board is also scheduled to:

• formally announce May 15 to 18 as the dates of the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee;

• recognize April as National County Government Month;

• recognize the centennial anniversary of the signing of the Smith-Lever Act of 1914, which created the national Cooperative Extension System, which aids farmers with crop and livestock advice.
