A woman was killed when the car she was traveling in collided with a tree stump this afternoon north of Sonora.

The accident, reported at 2:37 p.m., happened on Highway 49, at Flume Road.

The driver of the car, a black Mustang, went off the road on a curve while driving north.

CHP Officer Elliott Lopez said the driver, a man whose identity hasn't been released yet, was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving.
