Union Democrat staff /

Both candidates for Calaveras County sheriff and several people running for two seats on the county Board of Supervisors have filed campaign finance reports.

In the race for sheriff, Pat Garrahan is challenging incumbent Gary Kuntz.

Kuntz reported receiving $1,200 in contributions and making $941 in expenses. His account shows a remaining balance of $2,601.

Kuntz got eight contributions, ranging from $25 to $500.

Meanwhile, Garrahan reported $14,576 in contributions and $10,116 in expenses. His account shows a remaining balance of $4,559.

Garrahan, who has been endorsed by the Calaveras County Deputy Sheriffs Association, has received 17 individual contributions, including $10,000 from Richard Garrahan of Fairfax, Va.

Recently reported contributions and expenses may not balance out evenly as each candidate's account varies, such as having an existing balance.
