Roundup planning underway

By Mike Morris, The Union Democrat

Today is the first day of spring, and preparations are well underway for the season's biggest local event - the 57th annual Mother Lode Roundup.

"We are moving forward," said Al O'Brien, general chairman of this year's Roundup. "We've even started to get entries for the parade."

This year's Roundup Parade will start at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, along Washington Street in downtown Sonora.

Following the parade, a rodeo will be held at 2 p.m. and a dance at 8 p.m. at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds.

The next day - Sunday, May 11 - will kick off with a Mother's Day Breakfast between 8 a.m. and noon at the fairgrounds. Tickets are $7
