More rain, snow in forecast this week

Cloudy skies, foothill rain and snow at the highest elevations will dominate the weather for much of this week, following a pair of weekend storms that brought 0.74 inch of rain to Sonora and about 30 inches of snow to the high country.

Rain is likely tonight, as are winds up to 8 mph, according to National Weather Service forecasts.

The chance of precipitation drops to 30 percent Tuesday, then picks back up to 80 percent Wednesday night and 60 percent Thursday. Overnight lows in the foothills will range from the mid-30s to the low 40s.

Daytime highs will remain in the low to mid-50s.

A pair of weekend storms brought 0.74 inch of rain to Sonora. The storms raised the seasonal rainfall to 10.71 inches to date, well below the average for early March of 27.75 inches.
