Drought update slated Tuesday

PUBLIC MEETING: Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors, 9 a.m. Tuesday, County Administration Building, 2 S. Green St., Sonora.

Tuolumne County leaders will discuss the ongoing drought and its local implications Tuesday.

The county Board of Supervisors is scheduled to receive an update on the water supply situation from representatives with local water districts.

The Tuolumne Utilities District, faced with potentially running out of water by mid-July,is implementing strict outdoor water-use rules and requiring customers to cut their usage 25 percent. Groveland Community Services District has called on its customers to cut usage 20 percent.

Later Tuesday, the Sonora City Council is scheduled to discuss the drought and its impacts on the city. The council meets at 5 p.m. at city hall, 94 N. Washington St.
