The Summerville High School robotics club will continue to put numerous hours of work into their robots this week before competing this weekend in the Silicon Valley.

The club, in its second year, now has two teams, according to club founder Teresa Woods, who is the senior team leader.

One team, mostly seniors, are veterans of last year's competition, in which the team was runner-up at a regional championship, almost earning a spot in the world championship.

They compete in an international competition called FIRST Tech Challenge. FIRST stands for For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology.

Last year, Summerville's team, "Orange Pi RoBEARics," won the prestigious Inspire Award at the qualifying game in the Silicon Valley.

They won the award for being a startup team froma rural area that had an impact on their community, according to Woods.
