Power lines spark fire in Copper

By Alex MacLean / The Union Democrat

Downed power lines sparked a small grass fire in Copperopolis about 11 a.m.

Cal Fire spokeswoman Lisa Williams said personnel on the scene indicated the lines were still live. PG&E was called to respond.

PG&E said power was out for about 12 customers in the area.

About five power lines were downed across Snowbird Court, though Arrowhead Court remained clear.

Williams said she was not sure what caused the lines to down.

The lines ignited a small fire that was extinguished by firefighters after being contained to less than one-acre.

Williams said Cal Fire personnel were still on the scene about 11:30 a.m. waiting for PG&E employees to arrive.
