Avery principal resigns

Austen Thibault, The Union Democrat /

Avery Middle School Principal Christine Cearley issued a statement declaring her resignation, effective after the Thanksgiving holiday.

"Due to some circumstances out of my control, I must resign from my position," she said in a statement posted on the school's Facebook page Friday.

She did not specify the circumstances of the resignation.

But she said she has "loved being the principal of the most fabulous middle school in the state" and that it is with "great sadness" she announces her resignation.

The district's new superintendent, Don Ogden - starting work on Monday - will be working with school staff to find a new principal, she said.
