The Sonora Police Department reported the following:


3:39 p.m., pedestrian checks - An officer warned someone for riding a bicycle on the sidewalk at William and South Washington streets.

3:50 p.m., theft - A woman said a package was stolen from her mailbox on Shaws Flat Road.

4:38 p.m., littering - Someone saw a man toss a glass bottle out of his car window while driving by on Calaveras Way.

7:34 p.m., theft - A woman said a man took her purse at a business on South Washington Street.

The Sheriff's Office reported the following:


8:34 a.m., Soulsbyville - A student stole an iPhone device from another student at Soulsbyville Elementary. The school was handling the situation.

10:04 a.m., Jamestown - Someone reported escalating harassment from a houseboater on the 11400 block of Jacksonville Road.

11:21 a.m., Sonora area - Sheriff's deputies filed a report for an alleged assault between two residents at Avalon Health Care on the 19900 block of Greenley Road.

11:31 a.m., Jamestown - A woman's vehicle and residence on the 8400 block of Old Melones Dam Road was burglarized. Her tires were also vandalized.

1:30 p.m., Sonora area - Someone realized that a customer's car was also stolen during a burglary at a business earlier in the week, which was reported Tuesday morning. At the time, only tools and checks were thought to be missing.

4:17 p.m., Twain Harte - Someone requested a patrol check for people who were selling meat out of a freezer in the back of a truck on the 19200 block of Griffith Lane.

5:07 p.m., Columbia - Someone advised that a practice black powder salute would be fired off at Columbia Cemetery about 6 p.m.


7:04 a.m., Sonora area - A person with sandy brown hair and grayish beard in a newer, black, standard-cab pickup allegedly stole a boy's backpack near South Creekside and Crestview drives.

Cited on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs:


6:07 p.m., Sonora - Douglas William Spruner, 49, of the 22600 block of Confidence Road, Twain Harte, was arrested on Stockton Road.


The Sheriff's Office reported the following:


8:12 a.m., Copperopolis - A vehicle was parked at an unoccupied house on Tuni Court.

9:01 a.m., Valley Springs - An altercation over car keys occurred on Baldwin Street.

1:44 p.m., Arnold - There was a suspicious person near a business on Highway 4.
