Phoenix Lake home burns

Fire destroyed a single-family home near Phoenix Lake on Wednesday.

Cal Fire-Tuolumne County Fire Department engines, water tenders, battalion chiefs and safety officers responded to the residence on the 21000 block of Renee Court in Phoenix Lake Country Club Estates at 12:58 p.m.

The structure was fully engulfed in flames, except for the back porch area, when first-responders arrived, Cal Fire Capt. Mike Spear said.

A woman, whose name wasn't released, made it out uninjured. Spear said she was the only one in the home at the time.

Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office deputies found the woman on the back porch looking for her dogs and ushered her to safety before the flames reached that portion of the home, Spear said.

Two dogs have been located and were fine, but a third was still missing, Spear said about 2:15 p.m.

Other family members arrived at the scene before Spear left. He wasn't sure how many other people lived at the home.

Red Cross had not been called to assist the family by early afternoon, according to Mother Lode representative Debbie Calcote.

The home and all of the contents inside appeared to be completely destroyed, Spear said, but he had yet to receive a full damage report.

Spear said the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
