TUD urges water saving

Union Democrat staff

The Tuolumne Utilities District is asking customers in Tuolumne City to stop outside watering.

According to an alert posted on the TUD website, Tuolumne City residents apparently have been stressing the area water supply in response to the Rim Fire that is currently burning out of control in the Tuolumne River canyon.

"We need to make sure that our water storage tanks remain full for fire protection," the statement reads.

TUD General Manager Pete Kampa was not immediately available for further comment.
