Flood warning

Craig Cassidy, The Union Democrat

The National Weather Service this afternoon issued a small-stream flood advisory warning for northeastern Mariposa and Central Tuolumne counties.

The flood danger is the result of a strong thunderstorm that began to move across the region about 2:30 p.m., producing 1 to 2 inches of rain per hour.

The advisory is in effect through 5:45 p.m.

Drivers are urged to stay off roads crossed by water.

Floodwaters could impact the Tuolumne River drainage basin, part of which has been charred by the Rim Fire.
