Stormy weather on way

Union Democrat staff

A low-pressure system is predicted to move over the Mother Lode early next week, possibly bringing thunderstorms.

Sunday has a slight chance of storms above 5,000 feet in elevation, according to meteorologist Brooke Bingaman, of the National Weather Service in Sacramento.

This chance of storms continues Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday are predicted to be the stormiest days, with a slight chance of hazardous weather as low as 1,000 feet .

Clear skies are predicted Thursday and beyond.

Significant rain is not predicted. Thunderstorms, however, bring an increased risk of wildfire.
