Authorities identify victim of reported lightning strike

The Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office released a statement this morning that identified the woman who died Monday at a campground near Dardanelle after witnesses reported she was struck by lightning.

Christine Ann Adrian, 66, of Sonora, was reportedly unconscious and receiving CPR when Cal Fire and ambulance personnel were dispatched to assist at 3:52 p.m., according to the statement.

Adrian had died by the time first responders arrived on scene.

According to the statement, the Tuolumne County Sheriff's coroner could not find any obvious entry or exit wounds that would be associated with being struck by lightning and determined Adrian did not suffer a direct hit.

An autopsy is pending to determine the cause of death, the statement said.
