Deputy hurt in rollover

An on-duty Calaveras County Sheriff's deputy was injured Sunday in an auto accident in Copperopolis.

About 6:35 p.m., Eric Lisk, 34, was driving a patrol vehicle south on Little John Road with lights and siren activated, according to the California Highway Patrol.

He was responding to a domestic violence call, Sheriff's Sgt. Chris Hewitt said.

Lisk approached a vehicle that had stopped in the southbound lane of Little John Road, which apparently was trying to make a left turn into a private driveway, the CHP said.

The driver of the stopped vehicle later told the CHP he did not hear the siren but saw the patrol car approaching in his rearview mirror just before it swerved.

The deputy swerved to avoid the stopped vehicle and rolled the 2006 Ford Expedition just north of Bow Drive, the CHP said.

CHP Officer Michael Joslin said Lisk was driving about 55 mph, which is the posted speed limit in the area.

Lisk was transported by ambulance to Mark Twain Medical Center and treated for minor to moderate injuries.

He was wearing a seatbelt, according to the CHP.
