Home destroyed by fire

Pam Orebaugh

A two-story structure and a machine shop on Leonard Court in San Andreas were destroyed in a fire reported at 9:40 a.m. Saturday.

Smoke from the fire could be seen for miles.

"When we got there, it was fully involved up to the roof," Fire Chief Don Young of the San Andreas Fire Protection District said. "After that, it's just defensive work. It was a total loss."

Nobody was inside the structure at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

Personnel from Cal Fire responded along with the following fire protection districts: San Andreas, Calaveras County, Altaville-Melones, Mokelumne Hill and Central Fire.
