The Mother Lode could see a return to rain for a few days starting late Wednesday morning.

Very little rainfall is expected during the week, but Wednesday through Sunday all have some chance of showers, from Groveland to Arnold.

Wednesday and Thursday have a 20 percent chance of showers, and following days have a "chance" or "slight chance,"according to the National Weather Service.

Friday has a "slight chance" of showers, which means a 15 to 29 percent chance of receiving 0.10 inches of rain or more.

Saturday and Sunday each have a "chance" of showers, meaning a 30 to 59 percent chance of the 0.10 inches.

Temperatures for Sonora are expected to stay in the low to mid-60s throughout the week. Snow levels are not expected to drop below 6,700 feet.

Stefanie Henry, a meteorologist for the NWS, did not predict any significant rainfall from the weather system during the week, but forecasts a wet weekend as more likely from a stronger system moving in Saturday.

She also said our area is at approximately 63 percent of normal rainfall for the end of March. Also, area snowpack levels range from about 40 to 60 percent of normal as of yesterday.

Sonora's average seasonal rainfall through the end of March is 27.86 inches according to Union Democrat records. Total rainfall so far this year is 18.45 inches.

After Sunday or Monday, the Mother Lode is predicted to return to dry weather, though there is another system off the West Coast that is too early to make predictions for, according to Henry.
