Motorcycle wreck victim identified

A man killed in a motorcycle accident Friday afternoon outside Columbia was identified over the weekend as Shawn Angel.

Angel, 42, was pronounced dead at Sonora Regional Medical Center shortly after the 1:45 p.m. accident on Parrots Ferry Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol,Angel was riding an off-road-style motorcycle north on Parrotts Ferry. He came to a curve in the road just before the Parrotts Ferry Bridge, crossing the Stanislaus River, and crossed the double-yellow lines. He traveled into the southbound lane's shoulder, collided with a guardrail and was thrown from the motorcycle, the CHP said.

He was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
