An Angels Camp man was arrested Friday after allegedly stabbing a hotel bar bouncer in Murphys.

Jeron Daniel Roberts, 34, was booked into Calaveras County Jail on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon.

About 11:15 p.m., Calaveras County Sheriff's deputies responded to the Murphys Historic Hotel regarding a disturbance.

Witnesses told deputies that Roberts became upset while at the bar and left, slamming the door on his way out.

Witnesses were not sure why Roberts became angry, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The bouncer followed Roberts, who was reportedly very intoxicated, and the two began physically fighting in the street, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Roberts allegedly threw several punches at the bouncer, who responded by striking Roberts several times, the Sheriff's Office said.

Both men were on the ground when Roberts allegedly pulled out a 4-inch folding knife and stabbed the bouncer in the leg "multiple times," the Sheriff's Office said.

The bouncer and other people at the scene held Roberts on the ground until deputies arrived.

The bouncer was treated at the scene for multiple puncture wounds to his leg, which were not considered life-threatening.

Roberts had minor facial wounds.

A 26-year-old Angels Camp man, who witnesses said appeared to be acquainted with Roberts, was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.
