The bodies of a missing Amador County woman and her daughter were discovered Thursday in an icy pond on a farm east of Jackson.

El Dorado County Sheriff's Office divers, called in to assist, recovered the bodies of Karen Diane Anderson, 46, and her daughter, Amelia Noelle Arago, 5, about 30 feet from the pond's shore mid-morning.

The water was about 8 feet deep, and the water's temperature was 38 degrees, the Amador County Sheriff's Office reported. The pond is on the Anderago poultry breeding farm, on the 14000 block of Spring Canyon Lane.

The mother and daughter were reporting missing by friends Monday. Amador Sheriff' Office deputies that afternoon responded to reports of a loose llama in the Spring Canyon Lane neighborhood. They checked Anderson's farm and couldn'tfind anyone.

On Tuesday, a neighbor, who hadn't seen Anderson or her daughter all day, called the Sheriff's Office to request a welfare check at the farm. Deputies found nothing unusual.

They returned Wednesday to follow up a second call on Tuesday from a neighbor stating the home's residents were missing, the farm's animals were untended, and that there was a hole in the property's iced-over pond.

Detectives said dogs "alerted" near the pond on Wednesday. A dive team and California Highway Patrol helicopter were called in to aid in the search Thursday.

A rope used to lead llamas, found in the pond, led divers to the bodies.

Authorities said there was no evidence of foul play.

An autopsy will determine the cause of death.
