Man hurt in car crash

A Petaluma man suffered minor injuries after crashing his car in Angels Camp on Sunday afternoon.

At 12:20 p.m., John Lappin, 21, was driving east on Highway 4 near Pool Station Road about 55 mph in rainy conditions, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

He lost control of his 2007 Nissan and turned the wheel in an attempt to regain control but was unable to, the CHP said.

His car traveled left across the double solid-yellow lines and into an embankment with large erosion control boulders. The car rotated counterclockwise and struck a barbed-wire fence and a large boulder, according to the CHP.

Lappin, who was wearing his seatbelt, was transported to Mark Twain Medicl Center in San Andreas with minor injuries, the CHP said.
