Two children injured in car v. bus accident

Two children suffered minor injuries Monday morning when a car crashed into the side of a school bus near Arnold.

The accident was reported at 7:40 a.m. on Highway 4, just east of Oak Circle, the California Highway Patrol reported.

A 1990 Thomas school bus carrying 29 children and driven by Linda Stephens, 59, of Arnold, had stopped in the east-bound lane of the highway to pick up children when a 1998 Chevy Tahoe stopped behind her accelerated in an attempt to pass.

The Tahoe, driven by Sarah Bilchak, 19, of Berkeley, fishtailed on the ice. The front end hit the side of theVallecito Unified School District bus.

Two children, 10 and 11, were taken to Mark Twain Medical Center in San Andreas, CHP said.
