A Burson man sustained major facial and knee injuries after crashing his motorcycle in Valley Springs on Tuesday.

About 4:45 p.m., Mark Allen Feretti, 55, was riding his motorcycle southbound on Chile Camp Road, north of Gassner Road, at an estimated speed of 30 mph, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

The rear wheel of the 1986 Harley Davidson locked, causing the bike to skid and collide with a dirt embankment on the west shoulder of Chile Camp Road, CHP said.

The force of the collision caused the motorcycle and Ferretti to travel south along the west edge of the roadway and re-enter the southbound lane of Chile Camp Road.

The motorcycle overturned and Ferretti, who was wearing a helmet, collided with the asphalt.

Weather conditions were clear at the time of the accident.
