A Murphys woman died Sunday afternoon in an auto collision on Highway 4, just west of Red Hawk Road.

The accident, near Avery, was reported to the California Highway Patrol about 1:25 p.m.

The woman, 50, who was not identified, was driving a 2002 Honda Civic east at an unknown speed when her car turned directly into the path of a westbound 2008 Honda Pilot carrying a Los Gatos family.

The Pilot collided with the left side of the Civic at about 45 mph.

The driver of the Pilot, Cindy Gentile, 53, and her passenger, Gregory Gentile, 58, were taken to Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital in San Andreas for treatment of minor injuries.

Their passenger, Bronte Gentile, 14, was uninjured.
