Union Democrat staff


The Sonora Police Department reported the following:

1 p.m., controlled substances - A juvenile was cited for drug charges at Sonora High School.

2:32 p.m., school assist - A Sonora High School student had marijuana on campus and was taken to the Probation Department.

6 p.m., burglary - An attempted burglary was reported on South Sonora Avenue.

The Sheriff's Office reported the following:


8:19 a.m., Jamestown - A Jamestown Elementary School student showed up to school Tuesday under the influence of marijuana. He said he found the marijuana and smoked it on the way to school.

10:05 a.m., Sonora area - A tricycle was stolen from Gold Rush County School on Hidden Valley Road sometime Tuesday.

10:38 a.m., Sonora area - A man was causing a disturbance and possibly switching price tags on items at Mother Lode Thrift on Mono Way. He refused to leave at the clerk's request. Officers advised him and released him to his caretaker.

11:31 a.m., Columbia - A clothes dryer was stolen from a home on the 22000 block of Upper Quail Mine Road.

11:36 a.m., Tuolumne - The title and registration of a motorhome was stolen from the 18000 block of Hershey Road.

Felony bookings


8:22 a.m., Sonora area - Danny James Norton, 29, a transient, was booked on suspicion of possession of drugs and committing a felony while released on bail, after an arrest on the 300 block of Hospital Road. He was also booked on suspicion of a misdemeanor charge of violation of probation.

9:20 p.m., Jamestown - Kenneth John Borer, 65, of the 10000 block of Golf Links Road, was booked on suspicion of burglary and embezzlement over $400 after an arrest at his home.



12:32 p.m., Sonora area - An escaped debris burn pile caused a vegetation fire on the 9200 block of Highway 49. Four acres of grass was burned and the estimated damage is $800. No injuries were reported. The fire was under control by 3:27 p.m.


The Sheriff's Office reported the following:

9:53 a.m., Valley Springs - Building materials were taken from Paws and Claws Pet Grooming on Highway 26.

10:54 a.m., San Andreas - Jewelry was stolen on Central Hill Road.

12:44 p.m., San Andreas - A cell phone was stolen at Gold Strike High School on Gold Strike Road.

Felony bookings

10:12 p.m., Angels Camp - Jesse J. Cuneo, 26, of the 1900 block of Sawmill Flat Road, Sonora, was booked on suspicion of child cruelty after an arrest on the 600 block of Copello Drive.

10:12 p.m., Angels Camp - Jaclynette Mae Martin, 28, of the 600 block of Copello Drive, Angels Camp, was booked on suspicion of child cruelty after an arrest on the 600 block of Copello Drive.



4:52 p.m., Copperopolis - A spot of grass on the 3600 block of Dunn Lane was burned after a debris burn pile escaped. No damage estimate or injuries were reported. The fire was under control by 5:48 p.m.
