Man injured in Arnold accident

A 21-year-old man sustained major injuries after crashing his car into a traffic sign and large tree off Highway 4 in Arnold Tuesday night.

Kenneth Healy, of San Jose, was driving his 1990 Honda Prelude westbound on Highway 4 near Lakemont Drive around 10:30 p.m. when he came to a curve in the road and drifted into the eastbound lane, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

CHP said it appeared Healy overcorrected and crossed through the westbound lane and right shoulder. He landed in a dirt area off the road, where he collided with a traffic sign and tree.

He was transported to Modesto Memorial Hospital by air ambulance.

Healy was not wearing his seatbelt, according to the report.

The crash was still under investigation Wednesday afternoon, according to CHP Officer Michael Joslin.
