Teen hit by car at Sonora High

A 19-year-old woman was struck by a pickup in front of Sonora High School around 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

The woman was walking through a pedestrian crossing Washington Street near the intersection with School Street when she was struck by the vehicle. An ambulance was on the scene and the woman was being treated for injuries by emergency personnel. The identity of the woman and the extent of her injuries were unavailable late Tuesday. Witnesses saw the woman lying unresponsive in the middle of the street.

Traffic along Washington Street was snarled for several blocks in each direction as police and fire crews secured the area.
